Races We Enjoy Taking Part In
![]() Most of the races we do are detailed below - and lots are set up as events on our Facebook page (Solent Running Sisters) - so you can see who is going which can be useful for lift sharing as well as moral support! For races, we encourage members to wear SRS kit - it makes it easier to find your running buddies!
Cross Country: Throughout the winter there is a local race series known as the CCS. CCS races are cross country races that take place around Hampshire on Sunday mornings. They're typically about 4.5 miles and are free for members - you simply turn up & run but you will need to wear a club top (get in touch to order or borrow one). Locations include some stunning New Forest runs. Organised by local running clubs, these are friendly, if often somewhat muddy events! Click here to find out more. The RR10 is a series of cross country races of about 4.5-5 miles that take place on Wednesday evenings throughout the summer. Once again, these are free for members and you simply turn up & run - but like the CC6 series, you do need to be wearing a club top. Again, these are organised by local running clubs and take place in various scenic spots in south Hampshire. Click here to find out more. The events are fun, light trail runs (road shoes are fine) usually between 4-5 miles, that are suitable for every club runner, whether you’re super fast, back of the pack runner, a jeffer and every single person in-between. Taking part and supporting each other is more important than speed and we do encourage those who are faster to stay and cheer every other Running Sister over the line. Volunteering: The Solent Running Sisters organise one of the races in both the CC6 and the RR10 race series. We will ask on our Facebook group for volunteers to help us organise the race. It is a great way to give back to the running community. You can get in touch with our race directors (Danielle Friedman-Brown, Jess Moore & Chrissi Fuller) via info@srs.org.uk if you would like to know any more about the CC6 or RR10 races. Hampshire Road Race League Series: This is a league series so you will be able to see how you're fairing against other competitors across all events. The list of races changes every year but regular fixtures include Gosport Half Marathon, Lordshill 10, Ryde 10, and Alton 10. Click here to find out more. When entering, select "affiliated" if available in the options as this will give you a discount - and please do specify Solent Running Sisters as your club/team! 2022/23 Fixtures are as follows: Overton 5 4th September 2022 Solent Half – 25th September 2022 Hayling 10 – 6th November 2022 Gosport Half – 20th November 2022 Victory 5 – 4th December 2022 Stubbington 10K 8th January 2023 Ryde 10 – 5th February 2023 Salisbury 10 – TBC March 2023 Alton 10- TBC May 2023 Netley 10K – 21st May 2023 Alresford 10K – 18th June 2023 Lordshill 10K – 2nd July 2023 parkruns: Sisters will often be found at the numerous local parkruns including Itchen Valley Country park, Southampton, Eastleigh and Netley.
